Walking dinner catering Viet-Thai bites and hot dishes, eaten standing at your offices

A walking dinner is a standing dinner: your guests move around, talk and eat as the evening goes on. I build it with Viet-Thai canapés eaten by hand, then a standing buffet of hot dishes.

I'm Henri, and D'Asie Express is my family's kitchen. Everything is cooked the same morning, delivered, set up, cleared away.

The menu is built around your budget: two proposals to choose from.

A long buffet table with a yellow cloth: steamers, trays of curry and sauces, before the guests arrive; in the foreground, the rice cooker.

Canapés to start with

The bites are eaten by hand: nems, spring rolls, loempia, shrimp fritters, dumplings, dim sum, buns, chicken wings.

For a walking dinner, I like to plan more starters: your guests come back to the buffet several times.

See the starters and bites

A buffet set up on an office counter: a tray of vegetable curry, two trays of salad with peanuts and pots of sauce.

Then a standing buffet of hot dishes

The walking dinner replaces a meal: I add a standing buffet, with curries, fried rice and stir-fried noodles on food warmers, and laab-kai and mango salads.

Everything is cut bite-size: your guests eat standing, with just a fork. Every dish has its label.

Set up before your guests, cleared away after

I deliver and set up before your guests arrive, in a meeting room, a lobby or a shared space.

After the dinner, I come back for all the equipment. The next day, there is nothing left to tidy up.

Your questions about the walking dinner

What is a walking dinner?

A standing dinner, with no set seating: guests move around, talk and eat as the evening goes on. With me, it starts with canapés eaten by hand and carries on with a standing buffet of hot dishes.

How is a walking dinner different from a cocktail reception?

A cocktail reception is mostly finger food. A walking dinner replaces a meal: starters, then a hot buffet, eaten standing with a fork.

How many bites should we plan per person?

For example, for a walking dinner that replaces a meal: two cold starters to share, a hot dish with rice and, if you want more starters, two hot bites per guest. I set the quantities to your numbers and your budget.

How much does a walking dinner cost?

From €24 per person, with a €250 minimum per order. Tell me your budget and the number of people, and I put together two menus around it.

For how many people?

Up to about 150 people. The menu is built around your numbers and your budget.

Do we need a dedicated room or a kitchen?

No. The trays go on food warmers, on a meeting table or in a kitchenette. I adapt to the space you have, and everything leaves after the meal.

Who sets up and who clears away?

I do. I deliver, set up before your guests arrive, and come back to take all the equipment after the meal.

Can we have vegetarian and halal options?

A fully vegetarian version is always available, and several dishes have a halal option, on request. Vegetarian, halal and allergies, in detail.

And a walking lunch, at midday?

Yes, the same format works at lunchtime, for a lunch where people move around: starters, then a hot buffet, eaten standing.
